Established in 1984 - Leicester Bearings has stood the test of time

The History of Leicester bearings

1984

Founded in 1984

In October 1984, Leicester Bearings was set up by Steve & Sharon March. Operating from a one bedroom flat on Leicester’s London Road, Leicester Bearings had begun its incredible journey.

1985

LB Move premises

In 1985, Leicester Bearings were on the move. Moving to a small, 1000sqft unit on Freemens Common Industrial Estate, right at the heartbeat of Leicester Agricultural business when the Cattle Market existed.

1986

New Additions

In 1986, new additions to the Leicester Bearings Team. To work alongside Sharon in sales, 2 more internal sales people were added and also a van driver to help Steve keep up with deliveries.

1990

New director

In 1990, Keith Dand joined the company. As a young sales and technical assistant Keith grew in his role helping Leicester Bearings to become the leading supplier of Bearings in county. Keith is still with company to this day and is now a Director of the company.

1995

On the move…again

In 1995, Leicester Bearings was on the move again. Still in the centre of Leicester on the same Industrial Estate but in to a new purpose built industrial unit. This previous unit was well out grown!

1998

LB Join IADA

In 1998, Leicester Bearings joined IADA. This membership to an organisation of ambitious, likeminded bearing company owners across the UK would see LB increase it’s product and range of brands. Big things were starting.

2000

Phoenix Belting

In 2000. Leicester Bearings Acquired Phoenix Belting. A houeshold name in Leicestershire and across the UK, Phoenix Belting was a leading supplier of Flat Belting and a seriously good supplier of Material Handing products. Many of Phoenix’s customers still remain a customer today.

2012

Leicester Bearings joins Troy

Leicester Bearings are invited to join the Troy UK –

Troy are the leading group of industrial engineering supplies in the UK.

Providing Leicester Bearings access to all brands of power tools, hand tools and PPE.

 

2022

New Directors

2022 saw the appointment of two new Directors to Leicester Bearings to continue the legacy. Sons, Jamie March and Daniel March take over from founder Steve March to continue the journey of Leicester Bearings into a new era.
